Except from BFA Painting + Drawing Catalogue:

“The imprint of a body left behind in dirt, fingers digging holes into earth…these are marks that are both consciously and unconsciously made. I believe the mutual relationship formed between the body and earth, conscious and unconscious marks, reveal to us the essence of a place.

In my work I seek to replicate marks made in earth, as a way to revisit the relationship that exists between myself and a particular place I am apart of. I work with materials that I can manipulate with my body, building up each piece in layers that both mimic, and inevitably distance themselves from, natural land processes. The scale of my pieces is meant to be immersive to the viewer, allowing them to discover what is both familiar and unfamiliar in form, material, and mark.”
